The Conference assessed the developments of the past decade and created a framework for future decision-making. It marked the 10th anniversary of the events of 1991 which culminated in the demise of the Soviet Union. The Conference brought together most of the Foreign Ministers of the time and key players from business, education, public policy and journalism. It was held under the patronage and active involvement of Deputy Prime Minister Jan Kavan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
