GLOBAL PANEL - CONFERENCE OF FOREIGN MINISTERS - CONTENT
"10 Years After, Key Players Reflect on the Events of 1991"

Monday, May 28th

May 28th, Monday morning focused on the circumstances surrounding the 1991 Putsch. What domestic and international factors influenced the decisions taken by policy-makers during this critical time? What was the role of private enterprise? What role, if any, did NGO's have in breaking the ideological barriers between the Soviet Union and the West? Monday afternoon focused on the role policy-makers, business and NGOs have played in building political stability, economic growth and civil society in the region over the last decade. What are the failures and successes?

Tuesday, May 29th

Tuesday, May 29th, focused on the challenges and objectives in the coming years. The conference did not only bring together the collective knowledge of these policy-makers, academics, business and civic leaders, but also served as a vehicle for building stronger relationships betweenthe participants leading to increased regional cooperation.
