Curriculum Vitae

Robert G. Seasonwein currently serves as Assistant Chief Counsel of the Transportation Security Administration, where he primarily counsels the Offices of Intelligence, Internal Investigations and Transportation Threat Assessment and Credentialing on security matters affecting all modes of transportation.
From 2003 to July 2004 he served as the Justice Department’s Senior Advisor for Criminal Justice Reform in Iraq. In 2002-2003, Mr. Seasonwein was the Legal Advisor for the U.S. Embassy in Prague, where he was the justice sector advisor and liaison to the Czech government. From 1997 to 2002, he served as the Criminal Division’s Director for Central and Eastern Europe, and developed an implemented technical assistance programs in 14 countries. He also supervised Justice Department liaisons placed in embassies in the region.
Mr. Seasonwein has also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and as Senior Trial Attorney in the Justice Department’s Office of Special Investigations. In addition to government service, he has been inside counsel to two large multinational corporations and has practiced law with the District of Columbia-based office of a New York law firm.
In addition to Global Panel, Mr. Seasonwein has served on the University of Maryland’s Alumni Association Public Policy Forum, and as a member of the entrepreneurship program mentor panel of the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business. He has also been a board member of Syracuse University’s Alumni Association. Mr. Seasonwein has had appointments as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and George Washington University’s Graduate Business School.
Mr. Seasonwein is a 1970 graduate of The University of Maryland (UMBC), where he majored in history and political science, and was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He also holds a law degree from Syracuse University College of Law.

Mr. Seasonwein has received a number of awards from the Transportation Security Administration and the United States Department of Justice. In 2003, he also received a Letter of Gratitude from Czech Ministry of Interior, a Commendation from Ambassador Craig R. Stapleton, and the U.S. Department of State’s Franklin Award. Mr. Seasonwein was also named the University of Maryland’s (UMBC) 1999 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Mr. Seasonwein served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968.
